Friday’s Double Feature: Hippest Hippos Cards

I’m finally getting back in the swing and Double Features are back! I have officially moved the Double Feature Live to Friday afternoons at 1:30pm PST. I have also updated my equipment so fingers crossed that the viewing experience is better. I still have trouble seeing real-time comments but know that I try to respond all comments – so please leave my a comment & say Hi!

I created my Halloween & Fall projects today using three Sale-A-Bration items and a July-December 2022 Mini Catalog Host Designer Series Paper. The Sale-A-Bration Hippest Hippos stamp set is adorable and includes images perfect for coloring! Hippest Hippos Halloween Happiness Card ~

Start with the Crushed Curry cardstock (cs) card base. Cut the two Celebrate Everything Designer Series Paper (DSP) panels. Glue the larger panel to the card front. Color two pieces of Black & White Gingham ribbon (7″ each) with the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend (be sure to use scrap paper to protect your surface as the Stampin’ Blends bleed through). Wrap the smaller Celebrate Everything DSP panel with colored Black & White Gingham ribbon using Stampin’ Seal to secure the ribbon ends to the back of the panel and then glue the wrapped panel along the left side of the card front.

Die cut a Basic White cs stitched circle and a Basic White cs stitched banner with the Stylish Shapes dies. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the stitched circle to the lower left side of the card front slightly overlapping the wrapped DSP panel. Stamp the sentiment from the Scary Cute stamp set in Memento Black ink on the stitched banner. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the stitched sentiment banner to the top left of the stitched circle.

Stamp the hippo image from the Hippest Hippos stamp set in Memento Black ink on Basic White cs and die cut the image out with the Hippo dies. Color the image with Stampin’ Blends and add Wink of Stella to the hippo’s eyes and tutu for sparkle. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the die cut colored hippo to the stitched circle slightly overlapping the sentiment banner.

Punch out Crushed Curry cs stars with the Witch Hat Builder punch and use glue dots to add the stars to the card front on the stitched circle. Tie a small bow with the other piece of colored Black & White Gingham ribbon and use glue dots to attach the bow to the card front above the stitched circle overlapping the wrapped ribbon.

Don’t forget to add a Basic White cs inside panel to write your message. I added a strip of DSP, stamped the sentiment, and added punched Crushed Curry cs stars to the inside and back of the card to pull the theme through.

Card Measurements:
Crushed Curry cs card base – 11″ x 4 1/4″ scored at 5 1/2″.
Celebrate Everything DSP panel – 5 1/4″ x 4″ plus two 1/2″ x 4″ strips.
Celebrate Everything DSP strip – 5 1/2″ x 1″.
Basic White cs stitched circle – (3″) die cut with the Stylish Shapes dies.
Basic White cs sentiment banner – die cut with the Stylish Shapes dies.
Basic White cs hippo – die cut with the Hippo dies.
Crushed Curry cs stars – punched with the Witch Hat Builder punch.
Basic White cs inside panel – 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″.
Black & White Gingham ribbon

Hippest Hippos Rings of Love Leaves Card

Start with a Crumb Cake cardstock (cs) card base. Cut a Crumb Cake cs panel and dry emboss it with the Leaf Fall 3D embossing folder. Wrap the embossed panel with Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim using Stampin’ Seal to secure the ends on the back of the embossed panel. Glue the wrapped embossed panel to the card base.

Die cut a Basic White cs stitched circle with the Stylish shapes dies. Stamp the sentiment from the Shaded Summer stamp set in Memento Black ink on the upper left side of the stitched circle. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the stamped stitched circle to the card front overlapping the wrapped ribbon. Fussy cut out leaves from the Rings of Love Designer Series Paper (DSP) with paper snips.

Stamp the hippo image from the Hippest Hippos stamp set in Memento Black ink on Basic White cs and die cut the image out with the Hippo dies. Color the image with Stampin’ Blends and add Wink of Stella to the hippo for sparkle. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the die cut colored hippo (be sure to position the dimensionals so there is room to tuck the fussy cut leaves under the right side of the hippo) to the right side of the stitched circle.

Use glue to tuck the fussy cut leaves under the right side of the hippo. Add Fine Sparkle Adhesive-Backed Gems to the card front for extra sparkle. Tie a small bow with the Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim and attach the bow with glue dots on the right side of the stitched circle overlapping the wrapped ribbon.

Don’t forget to add a Basic White cs inside panel to write your message. I added a strip of embossed Crumb Cake cs and stamped the sentiment to the inside & back of the card to pull the theme through.
