The Winter Owls bundle is one of my September-December 2023 Mini Catalog retiring favorites. I combined these fabulous owls with the Brushed Gold Cards & Envelopes, the sentiment from my Home for the Holidays October Paper Pumpkin Kit, and the upcoming January-April 2024 Mini Catalog Thoughtful Expressions dies to create this lovely Christmas card.
Start with a Brushed Gold Cards & Envelopes card base. Die cut a Vellum cardstock scalloped rectangle with the Scalloped Contours dies. Use Stampin’ Seal applied to the center of the scalloped rectangle only and then add it to the center of the card base. Die cut a Basic White cardstock stitched shape with the Thoughtful Expressions dies. Stamp the trees from the Grassy Grove stamp set in 1st & 2nd generation Misty Moonlight ink along the bottom of the stitched shape. Use Stampin’ Seal to add the stamped stitched shape to the card front overlapping the Vellum cardstock scalloped rectangle and the card front.
Stamp the flying owl from the Winter Owls stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink on Basic White cardstock. Die cut out the owl with the Winter Owls dies. Use the water painter to lightly blend Misty Moonlight ink (use the ink pad lid as a palate) to color the die cut owl with darker coloring on the wings. I used a gold metallic pen (Kelly Creates Metallic Jewel Brush Pen I picked up at Tuesday Morning before they closed down) to add gold to the owl. Die cut Gold Foil wings with the Winter Owls dies. Trim the wings so they will fit on the die cut owl and then use Stampin’ Seal to add the Gold Foil wings to the owl. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the built owl to the card front overlapping the bottom of the stitched shape and Vellum cardstock scalloped rectangle. Add Wink of Stella to the owl for sparkle.
Cut a Basic White cardstock sentiment strip. I used my stamp positioning tool (retired Stamparatus®with the Waffle Flower 6″ x 6″ Grip Mat) to stamp the sentiment from the Home for the Holidays October 2023 Paper Pumpkin stamp set (but you can use your favorite Christmas sentiment) in Misty Moonlight ink on the sentiment strip. Cut a strip of Gold Foil and use Stampin’ Seal to layer it behind the sentiment strip. Use Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the sentiment strips to the card front on the top of the stitched shape. Add gold Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins around the sentiment strips.
Cut a Basic White cardstock inside panel to write your message. Stamp the owl from the Winter Owls stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink on the top left (slightly off) corner. Use the water painter to lightly blend Misty Moonlight ink (use the ink pad lid as a palate) to color the die cut owl with darker coloring on the wings. Stamp the sentiment from the Very Best Occasions stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink. I also stamped the trees from the Grassy Grove stamp set in 1st & 2nd generation Misty Moonlight ink along the bottom right of the inside panel and on the back of the card to pull the theme through. Use glue to add the inside panel into the card.
