Touch of Gothic Birthday Card

My daughter needed a birthday card for a friend and wanted it to be black and sparkly. So I recreated a version of the card I made a few days ago – the Parisian Blossoms Happy Birthday To You Card – using the Tufted 3D embossing folder, Black Foil sheets and Silver Glimmer paper.

Start with a Smoky Slate cs card base. Cut a Black Foil panel, dry emboss it with the Tufted 3D embossing folder, and then glue it to the card base.

Die cut out a Vellum cs label with the Stitched So Sweetly dies. Use Snail to attach the Vellum label to the center of the card front.

Stamp the cake image from the Happy Birthday To You Stamp set in Memento Black ink on Very Vanilla cs twice. Use the Birthday Dies to die cut out 1 cake image and 1 of just the flowers. Use your Paper Snips to cut off the cake stand from the die cut cake and cut free one flower from flower die cut. Color the images with the Stampin’ Blends. Add Wink of Stella to the flowers for sparkle.

Cut a Very Vanilla cs sentiment banner and then stamp the sentiment from the Special Someone stamp set in Memento Black ink. Flag the end of the sentiment banner with your Paper Snips. Use the light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend to color the sentiment panel’s edges.

Cut a small piece of Black Satin ribbon, use glue dots to form a loop, attach a Silver Glimmer paper sprig, and then add it to the back of the cake image. Use a glue dots to add the other Silver Glimmer paper sprigs next to the ribbon/sprig on the back of the cake. Use the Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the cake to the card front centered on the Vellum label. Use mini Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the Silver Glimmer paper cake stand to the bottom of the cake.

Add the single flower to the cake image on the card front with the Black Stampin’ Dimensionals. Use the Shimmery Crystal Effects to add dimension to the berries and flower buds on the cake image (be careful as it will take a few minutes for them to dry).

Add the sentiment panel across the cake image and embossed Black foil panel using mini black Stampin’ Dimensionals – double stack the mini dimensional on the panel side so that the sentiment panel lays flat. Color rhinestones with the dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blend and add them to the sentiment banner and the flower’s centers.

Don’t forget to add a Very Vanilla cs inside panel. I stamped the sentiments from the Sale-A-Bration Sending You Thoughts stamp set in Memento Black ink on the inside panel. I added an embossed strip of Black Foil to the inside and back of the card to pull the theme through. I also glued the remaining flower die cut with a Silver Glimmer paper sprig to the inside panel.
