Global Design Project 204 – CASE the Designer – Woven Threads & Butterfly Beauty

This week for the Global Design Project we’re CASEing the Designer – a lovely Magnolia Lane card from Kerstin Kreis. I love how she used the Stitched Rectangles dies and small splatters behind the flower images. I decided instead of using the Magnolia Lane Suite – I would use the Woven Threads Suite – I really like how the Heirloom Frames Dies & 3D Embossing Folders compliment the Stitched Rectangles dies. I also wanted to use butterflies instead of flowers and added Frosted White Shimmer Paint for splatters – although I added it to everything and not just a few drops in the background.

For this card I added Frost White Shimmer Paint splatter to all the layers except the sentiment layer so I cut all of the pieces first.

Start with a Seaside Spray cs card base. Cut a Woven Threads DSP panel. Die cut out the Rococo Rose cs Stitched Rectangle. Die cut and dry emboss a piece of Seaside Spray cs with the Heirloom Frames and 3d square embossing folder. Die cut out butterflies with the Butterfly Beauty dies and then cut them apart with Paper Snips.

On an acrylic block I added a few drops of Frosted White Shimmer Paint and a few drops of water from an Aqua Painter- mixed it and then using the Aqua Painter splattered each of the cut pieces of cs including the front side of the card base. Give them at least 5 min to dry before you begin assembling your card.

Glue the Woven Threads DSP panel on the Seaside Spray cs card base. Attach the Rococo Rose cs stitched rectangle to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Glue the large butterfly towards the top of Rococo Rose cs stitched rectangle and so that it’s wings stretch across the whole layer and it will be seen through the top of the embossed Seaside Spray cs frame.

Attach the embossed Heirloom Seaside Spray cs frame to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals in the center of the Rococo Rose stitched rectangle.

Cut the Whisper White cs sentiment layer. Stamp the sentiment from the Daisy Delight stamp set in Seaside Spray ink on the Whisper White cs layer. Round off the top left and bottom right corner with the Detailed Trio punch.

Use Snail – make sure the adhesive is close to the edges – to loop Silver Metallic Thread to the back of the sentiment layer. Cut a piece of the Seaside Spray Scalloped Linen trim in half length wise with Paper Snips and then add it to the back of the sentiment layer on the Snail – so that only the pretty embroidered edge shows – and use Paper Snips to cut off the excess.

Then use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment layer to the card front across the Seaside Spray cs embossed frame. I used the end of my stylus to add dots of the Frost White Shimmer Paint to the sentiment layer.

Use a Bone Folder to gently curl the wings of two of the smaller butterflies. Use glue dots to add the butterflies to the embossed Seaside Spray cs frame. Then add Rococo Rose Faceted Dots to all three butterflies.

Don’t forget to add a Whisper White cs inside panel to write your message. I also stamped the sentiment from the Daisy Delight stamp set in Seaside Spray ink and added a strip of the Woven Threads DSP to the inside panel and back of the card to pull the theme through.

I hope you enjoyed my #GDP204 Woven Threads & Butterfly Beauty Dies card. You can get everything I used to make this card in my Online Store now including the super fun Frost White Shimmer Paint (adding splatters to your projects can be addictive).
