Week 3 of 12 Weeks of Halloween – Zombie Coffin

I have a fun coffin treat box for Week 3 of my 12 Weeks of Halloween. The Boo To You stamp set is totes adorbs and the zombie works perfectly with the Coffin Treat Boxes in the 2019 Holiday Catalog. You can watch the Facebook Replay Video of this project here or you can watch the Facebook Replay on my YouTube channel here.

Start with a Coffin Treat Box. Re-Burnish all the score lines with a bone folder (this is an important step as dry embossing will lessen the pre-made score lines). Then dry emboss both coffin box pieces with the Subtle 3D embossing folder (a small flap on the bottom piece won’t fit the folder – just dry emboss that piece by running it though your machine a 2nd time with only that area in the folder). Then add Tear & Tape to the tabs and build the box.

I added some Frost White Shimmer Paint and a few drops of Pool Party ink refill to an acrylic block – add a bit of water and mix it with an Aqua Painter. With the Aqua Painter add some mixed Shimmer Paint splatters to the made coffin. Then use a Stampin’ Sponge wedge (cut the sponge into smaller pieces that are easier to use) to swipe some of the mixed Shimmer Paint to the coffin until you have the effect and coverage you want.

I cut a large piece of tissue paper in half with Paper Snips and then stamped the ‘Spooky’ sentiment from the Spooktacular Bash stamp set in both Pool Party ink and Memento Black ink. Then cut the piece in fourths to use as a liner for your coffin.

To build your Zombie – stamp your zombie image from the Boo To You stamp set on a piece of Very Vanilla cs. To get the reverse image – get out your Stamparatus. Take out all the mats and instead of placing a piece of paper on the grid – place the large watercolor background stamp from the Love What You Do stamp set. Place your zombie stamp rubber down on the background stamp to make sure the image will fit – then pick up the zombie stamp with the plate. Ink & stamp the zombie image several times on the background stamp with Memento Black ink until you have the desired inked image.

Position the zombie on the background stamp and then use the plate to pick up the stamp.
Ink the zombie several times until the transferred zombie image is as dark as you like.

Then carefully remove the back ground stamp, add it to a block, huff on it to make sure the ink is as wet as it can be – and stamp the transferred image on a piece of Very Vanilla cs. Color both zombie images with the Stampin’ Blends – using the light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend to color around the outer edge of the images – then fussy cut them out. Add Wink of Stella to the eyes for sparkle.

Gently remove the background stamp, place on a block, huff on it and then stamp the image on the cs.
The image is then ready to be colored and fussy cut out. And don’t forget to use a Stampin’ Pierce Mat so you can get the best stamped image.

Cut the piece of Window sheet for the zombie. Use Tear & Tape on one end to attach the Window Sheet to the base of the coffin. Gently bend the Window Sheet to add a slight score line (so the Zombie will fit nicely). Use glue dots to add one side of the zombie to the Window Sheet so his feet is on the top edge of the coffin. Add the reverse image on the other side with glue dots on the window sheet and glue on the top to attach to the other zombie image. Add Googly Eyes to the zombies.

To make the label – Cut a piece of Black Foil and die cut out a label with the Ornate Frames Dies. With a hole punch – punch a hole on the left side in the middle (where the stamped tag will hide it). Cut a 19″ piece of Black Glittered Organdy ribbon, thread it through the hole, and fold the ribbon over to the left of the Black Foil sentiment label layer so it will lay under the sentiment layer.

On Whisper White cs stamp the sentiment from the Spooktacular Bash stamp set in Memento Black ink. Die cut out the sentiment with the Ornate Frames dies. Use the Black mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (place them on the top and bottom edge so the middle is open for the ribbon to move through) to attach the sentiment to the Black Foil label layer.

I added a zombie finger bubbles (purchased at Target sold in packs of 4) in my box nestled in the tissue paper. The zombie bends over into the coffin when you put the coffin lid on. I wrapped the tag around the coffin and tied a bow to the right side and added a Monster Bash Enamel shape to the top of the coffin.
