Global Design Project 183: Theme Challenge

I used to post my Global Design Projects on Sunday but last week I missed the deadline. So I won’t miss it again I moved my posting day to Saturday! I’m thinking about doing Stash Sunday’s – highlighting those beloved retired stamp sets and products that I keep in my Stash. And my keeper stash is way more than can fit on a single shelf…lol.

This week’s Global Design Project challenge is the theme ‘A Day in the Park’. What’s better than a stroll in the park past a lovely tree in a field of wild flowers.

Start with a Soft Sea Foam cs card base. Cut a Petal Pink cs panel and glue it to the card base. Cut the Whisper White cs panel.

First stamp the grass image from the Enjoy Life stamp set in the Soft Sea Foam ink on the Whisper White cs panel. I stamped the image many times across the bottom to get the variation in color and texture. Then stamp the flower images from the Sheltering Tree stamp set in Petal Pink ink in the grass image. Add Wink of Stella to the flowers for sparkle.

Stamp the tree image from Sheltering Tree stamp set in Crumb Cake ink in the grass in the middle of the stamped Whisper White cs panel. Then stamp the leaves image from the Sheltering Tree stamp set in Pear Pizzazz ink and Soft Sea Foam ink.

Cut the Whisper White cs and Petal Pink cs sentiment banner layers. Stamp the sentiment from the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink on the Whisper White cs sentiment banner layer. Use Paper Snips to flag the stamped Whisper White cs sentiment banner layer. Use snips to cut the Petal Pink cs banner layer and then glue it behind so it is parallel with the bottom half of the flagged stamped Whisper White cs layer and so it is centered underneath. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the sentiment banner layers to the card front across the tree. Add Faceted Dots to the sentiment banner layer.

On a Whisper White cs scrap stamp 2 matching large butterfly (I stamped 2 extra for the inside and back of the card) images from the Butterfly Gala stamp set in Crumb Cake ink. Stamp the top wing image in Petal Pink ink on the butterflies. Stamp the bottom wing image in So Saffron on the butterflies. Use the light and Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends to add color variation on the wings. Then use the Butterfly Duet Punch (a part of the Butterfly Gala Bundle) to punch out the butterflies. Glue the two butterflies together so that there are color images on both sides. Use a Bone Folder to curl the wings. Add Wink of Stella to both sides of the butterfly for sparkle. Use glue dots to attach the butterfly to the card front next to the sentiment layer.

Don’t forget to add a Whisper White cs panel to the inside so you can write your message. I also glued a stamped, colored, and punched butterfly to the inside and back of the card to pull the theme through. On this card I also stamped the sentiment from the Beautiful You stamp set to the back.
