Stampin’ Up! Grumpy Cat Sweet Stockings DSP Christmas Card

Card Measurements, Supply List, and printable PDF tutorial for this project are found at the bottom of this blog post.

I’m participating in a fun 12 Days of Christmas blog challenge with my stamping friend Theresa to show off all the Christmas awesomeness in the soon retiring June-December 2021 Mini Catalog and 2021-2022 Annual Catalog.

It’s Day 3 of my 12 Days of Christmas and I couldn’t resist making another #GDP320 inspired card. I love the layout of Kayla McCreadie’s card and when I was designing this super cute grumpy cat Christmas card it just naturally came together. Instead of distressing the front panel I embossed the layer panel for texture but still stamped images and the sentiment directly onto the DSP panel.

Start with a Mossy Meadow cs card base. Cut a Crumb Cake cardstock panel and a Heartwarming Hugs DSP panel. Dry emboss the Crumb Cake cs panel in the Macramé 3D embossing folder. Stamp the tree image in Mossy Meadow ink and the sentiment in Early Espresso ink from the Evergreen Elegance stamp set in the lower left corner of the DSP. Glue the stamped DSP panel to the embossed Crumb Cake cs panel. Wrap the panels with Linen Thread (add a small bit of Stampin’ Seal to hold the thread in place) and tie it into a bow on the front. Glue the wrapped panels to the card base.

Die cut a Crumb Cake cs scalloped circle with the Layering Circles dies. Embossed the Crumb Cake cs scalloped circle with the Macramé 3D embossing folder. Add the embossed scalloped circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals tucking it under the wrapped Linen Thread. Fussy cut out the grumpy cat image from the Sweet Stocking DSP. Add the cat with Stampin’ Dimensionals overlapping the Linen Thread on the left side of the embossed scalloped circle.

Stamp the sentiment from the Evening Elegance stamp set in Evening Evergreen ink on Basic White cs. Use your paper snips to fussy cut out the sentiment. Use Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and glue dots to add the sentiment panel to the card front under the wrapped linen thread across the cat image, embossed scalloped circle, and DSP panel. Add Wink of Stella to the cats eyes and Wonderful Gems to the card front for extra sparkle.

Don’t forget to add a Basic White cs inside panel to write your message. Stamp the sentiment and the tree image from the Evergreen Elegance stamp set in Evening Evergreen ink on the inside panel to the inside and back of the card to pull the theme through. I also added a fussy cut cat from the Sweet Stocking DSP.
