Global Design Project 187 – Theme Challenge

This week’s Global Design Project is a theme challenge to create a landscape. For this challenge I’m pairing the Sea of Textures Bundle and the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper. I decided to make a little under the sea grotto – scape. I absolutely love this octopus!

Start with a Tranquil Tide cs card base. Dry emboss the front half with the Subtle embossing folder.

Cut a Granny Apple Green cs panel. Stamp the seaweed image from the Magical Mermaid stamp set in 2nd generation (stamped off) Tranquil Tide ink, dry emboss it with the Subtle embossing folder, and then glue it to the card base.

On a scrap of Shimmery White paper use a Aqua Painter to add a wash of Tranquil Tide ink and Granny Apple Green ink. Use the fish die from the Under the Sea dies to cut out fishes from the colored Shimmery White paper. Add some of the fish to the stamped and embossed Granny Apple Green cs panel in the centered left side (about where the bottom of the sentiment tag layer will be) and save a few fish for the sentiment tag. I used my Take Your Pick tool to help place the fish.

Use a cut piece of the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper (leaves) and use the Sponge Brayer to apply Granny Apple Green ink, and then dry emboss it with the Subtle embossing folder. Adhere the inked and embossed Laser-Cut paper to the card front with glue.

Stamp the octopus from the Sea of Textures stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink on Shimmery White paper and cut it out with the Under the Sea dies. Use the Aqua Painter to move the ink around and add Granny Apple Green ink to give the octopus color variation. Glue the octopus to bottom right corner of the card front slipping some tentacles into the Laser-Cut leaves.

Stamp the coral images from the Sea of Textures stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink, Rich Razzleberry ink, and Granny Apple Green ink, and then then cut them out with the Under the Sea dies. Use the Aqua Painter to move the color around on the stamped and cut coral images, and then glue them to the card front.

Cut some starfish from So Saffron cs with the Under the Sea dies and glue them onto the card front by the coral.

Stamp the sentiment form the Sea of Textures stamp set in Memento Black ink on Shimmery White cs. Use a Aqua Painter to add a water wash of color over the sentiment. Use the Tailored Tag punch to punch it out. Also punch out a Tranquil Tide cs tag. Snip the Tranquil Tide cs tag in half and glue it behind the sentiment Shimmery White paper tag. Add a few of the saved die cut fish to the tag front with glue. I used my Take Your Pick tool to help place the fish. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the sentiment tag layers to the card front above the fish.

Don’t forget to cut a Whisper White cs inside panel to write your message. I also stamped a coral image form the Sea of Textures stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink to the inside panel and back of the card to pull the theme through.
