Wood Grain Backgrounds with the In Good Taste DSP

Card Measurements and Supply List for these projects are found at the bottom of this blog post.

I played with the In Good Taste DSP and a variation of the Scrappy Technique to make a wood grain backgrounds. I used these backgrounds with the A Good Man stamp set to make a few masculine cards.

First I cut two different pieces of the In Good Taste DSP (5 1/4″ x 4″) panels the size.

Then I used my Paper Trimmer to cut the two panels together to create pieces for the background.

Then repeice the panels using pieces of both panels for each new background.

Cut a Soft Suede cs panel (5 1/4″ x 4″) to glue the new background pieces to build the background.

Then you can use your Paper Trimmer to cut down the background pieces to the size you want.

1* Start with a Misty Moonlight cs card base. Dry emboss the card base front with the Subtle 3D embossing folder. Cut a Very Vanilla cs panel and use a In Good Taste DSP background panel. Wrap the DSP background panel with a piece of Night of Navy Frayed grosgrain ribbon from the Boho Indigo Product Medley and secure the ends with the Stampin’ Seal on the back of the DSP panel. Attach the wrapped DSP background panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the Very Vanilla cs panel and then glue them to the embossed card base.

Stamp the image from the A Good Man stamp set in Memento Black ink on Very Vanilla cs. Color the image with the Stampin’ Blends and then die cut it out with the Layering Ovals dies. Die cut out a Misty Moonlight cs oval layer with the Layering Ovals dies. Glue the stamped Very Vanilla cs oval to the Misty Moonlight cs oval. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the ovals to the right of the card front overlapping the ribbon.

Stamp the sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set in Night of Navy ink on Very Vanilla cs. Use the Classic Label punch to punch out the sentiment. Use mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and glue dots to attach the sentiment to the card front slightly overlapping the ribbon and image ovals. Use the Dark Misty Moonlight Stampin’ Blend to color pearls and then add them to the card front.

2* Start with a Misty Moonlight cs card base. Use an In Good Taste DSP background panel and glue it to the card base.

Stamp the image from the A Good Man stamp set in Memento Black ink on Very Vanilla cs. Color the image with the Stampin’ Blends and then die cut it out with a stitched oval from the Stitched Shapes dies. Glue it to the card front slightly off center.

Stamp the sentiment from A Good Man stamp set in Memento Black ink on Very Vanilla cs. Use the Classic Label punch to punch out the sentiment. Use mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach it so it overlaps the right of the stamped stitched oval and card front.

Stamp the second sentiment from the A Good Man stamp set in Memento Black ink on Very Vanilla cs and then die cut it out with the stitched banner from the Tasteful Labels dies. With Stampin’ Dimensionals attach the stamped stitched banner under the the sentiment banner slightly overlapping the stamped stitched oval and the card front. Use the Dark Misty Moonlight Stampin’ Blend to color pearls and then add them to the card front.

3* Start with a Misty Moonlight cs card base. Cut a Very Vanilla cs panel and use a In Good Taste DSP background panel. Glue the background to the Very Vanilla cs panel and then glue them to the card base.

Stamp the image from the A Good Man stamp set in Memento Black ink on Very Vanilla cs. Color the image with the Stampin’ Blends Stamp the image from the A Good Man stamp set in Memento Black ink on Very Vanilla cs. Color the image with the Stampin’ Blends and then die cut it out with a stitched rectangle from the Stitched Rectangles dies. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the stamped Very Vanilla cs stitched rectangle to the right side of the card front.

Stamp the sentiment from the Beautiful World stamp set in Memento Black ink on Very Vanilla cs and then die cut it out with a stitched rectangle from the Stitched Rectangles dies. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment stitched rectangle to the bottom left of the image stitched rectangle slightly overlapping it. Use the Dark Misty Moonlight Stampin’ Blend to color pearls and then add them to the card front.

Don’t forget to add a Very Vanilla cs inside panel to write your message. I stamped a coordinating sentiment on the inside panel and added a strip of DSP to the inside and back of the card to pull the theme through.
