Global Design Project 198 – Sketch Challenge

This week the Global Design Project is a fun sketch challenge. I decided to use the Come Sail Away Suite for my card.

Start with a Crumb Cake cs card base. Cut the Pool Party cs panel and dry emboss it with the High Seas 3D embossing folder using the 3D Embossing Folder Plate. With a sponge dauber gently add Night of Navy ink to the embossed waves.

Cut the Come Sail Away DSP panel. Die cut out the inner stitched rectangle using the Stitched Rectangle dies. Use glue to attached the DSP panel to the embossed Pool Party cs panel so the DSP panel frames the embossed Pool Party cs panel. Wrap the DSP/Pool Party cs panel with Linen Thread twice and then tie a bow to the left side. Attach the panel to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Cut the Very Vanilla cs sentiment panel, stamp it with the sentiment from the Colorful Seasons stamp set in Night of Navy ink. Use the edge of your Paper Snips to rough the edges of the Very Vanilla sentiment panel, and then use the sponge dauber to add Night of Navy ink to the edges. Attach the sentiment panel centered on the card front over the linen thread next to the bow.

Die cut out (3) seaweed from Vellum cs and the helm steering wheel (2) from Crumb Cake cs with the Smooth Sailing Dies. Stamp the small sail boat in Night of Navy ink on Very Vanilla cs and then die cut out the image with the Smooth Sailing dies. Use glue dots and Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the die cuts around and overlapping the sentiment panel. Add Basic Adhesive – Backed sequins around the card front.

I also made a vertical version of the same card.

Instead of using the Colorful Seasons stamp set for the sentiment and used a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthday stamp set. Follow the same instructions for the horizontal card except tie a knot to the right side of the card front instead of a bow and add a piece of knotted linen thread to the sentiment panel with glue.

Be sure to add a Very Vanilla cs inside panel to write your message. Rough up the edges of the inside panel with the open blade of the Paper Snips and add Night of Navy ink to the edges with a sponge dauber. I added a strip of DSP to the inside panel and back of the card as well as the other die cut Crumb Cake cs helm steering wheel to the inside panel with glue so it overlaps the DSP strip.
