Stampin' Up!® Flowering Cactus Sunrise Card

The Flowering Cactus is a gorgeous product medley and the stamp set & dies can be used by themselves to create beautiful cards. I created this lovely card pairing the Flowering Cactus images with the mountain from the Snow Front stamp set and made the sunrise background with the Blending Brushes.

Start with a Calypso Coral cs base. Cut a Night of Navy cs panel and Very Vanilla cs panel. Stamp the mountain image from the Snow Front stamp set in full and 2nd generation Night of Navy ink just above center on the Very Vanilla cs.

When adding ink with a Blending Brush – lightly load the ink to the brush from your ink pad. Gently tap the brush first on scratch paper and then gently swirl the brush onto your cardstock.

Use a Blending Brush to lightly add Night of Navy ink to the bottom of the Very Vanilla cs panel and up through the stamped mountains. Add Pacific Pointe ink, Crushed Curry ink, Calypso Coral ink, Poppy Parade ink, and then more Night of Navy ink to create the morning sky with the Blending Brushes.

I used my pack of three Blending Brushes to add ink – one for the blues – one for the yellow, and one for the oranges – starting with the lighter colors and then with the darker colors. After I was done coloring I just washed the ink out of the brushes in the sink with water and then left them out to dry.

Stamp the cactus images from the Flowering Cactus stamp set in Night of Navy ink on Very Vanilla cs. Stamp the flowers from the Flowering Cactus stamp set in Calypso Coral ink with the edge of the stamp rolled in Poppy Parade ink on Very Vanilla cs. Die cut out the cactus and flowers with the Flowering Cactus dies. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the cactus the bottom of the card front slightly overlapping the mountains and add the flowers with glue dots to the top of the cactus.

Stamp the sentiment from the Friends are like Seashells stamp set in Night of Navy ink on Very Vanilla cs. Fussy cut out the sentiment with your paper snips. Glue the sentiment to Night of Navy cs and then fussy cut around the sentiment to create a layer. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals and glue dots to add the sentiment to the card front overlapping the cactus. Add flowers to the sentiment. Add Wink of Stella to all the flowers and Champagne Rhinestones to the card front for sparkle.

Don’t forget to add a Very Vanilla cs inside panel to write your message. Stamp the sentiment from the Friends are like Seashells stamp set in Night of Navy ink. I also added color to the bottom inside right corner & back of the card with the Blending Brushes and stamped a cactus in Night of Navy ink to pull the theme through.
