Make Your Paper Shimmer!

This week I played with the Beautiful Baubles Bundle. This is the card I made during my Facebook Live.

You can watch my Facebook Live here.

For this lovely copper foil Beautiful Baubles bundle card I was inspired by combining card ideas from Amy Koenders and Little Lane Crafts. I also was stoked that I finally figured out how to keep my android phone to stay in landscape mode during my Facebook Live. Yeah!! I might actually get the hang of this Live thing.

For this next card I wanted to add the Frost White shimmer paint.

Beautiful Baubles stamp set, Frost White Shimmer Paint, Night of Navy cs, and colored with the Blends.

I started with stamping the image from the Beautiful Baubles stamp set with the Memento Black on a scrap piece of Whisper White cs. I then used the Stampin’ Blends to color the ornaments. Next I used a dry paint brush to lightly brush a thin layer of Frost White Shimmer Paint across the image. While that dried, I cut a scallop piece out of Night of Navy with the Layering Squares framelits (third largest – about 2 1/2″) and then I cut the image piece down to fit the Night of Navy piece. I cut another piece of Whisper White 4″ by 5 1/4″. I stamped the sentiment at the bottom right in Night of Navy. Then with a damp paint brush I painted a thin layer of the Frost White across the whole piece.  The shimmer paint picked up a little of the Night of Navy ink and I liked the effect. Using my ink pad I picked up a little of the ink from the lid and mixed it with the Frost White shimmer paint and added the soft tint of Night of Navy to the rest of the card front piece. I wrapped the shimmer painted piece with Silver Thread and then layered it on a piece of Night of Navy( 4 1/8 x 5 3/8). I added the scalloped Night of Navy/ image piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals over the Silver Metallic Thread. I added Clear Rhinestone Basic Jewels to finish the card.

I liked adding the ink to the Frost White Shimmer Paint so much that I made the same card again but this time I mixed the Night of Navy ink and the shimmer paint on a clear block… with a damp paint brush I painted a lovely thin coat on a piece of Whisper White cs (4″ x 5 1/4″).

On another scrap of Whisper White for the image – I painted with a damp paint brush a thin layer of only the Frost White Shimmer Paint. After it was dry I stamped the image from the Beautiful Baubles stamp set in Night of Navy ink and then added a bit of color with the Light Night of Navy Stampin’ Blend and used the Light Smoky Slate Blend to color in the ornament toppers.

I then built the card the same as I did the first time (excluding the extra rhinestones on the card front base). I liked the effect of only using Night of Navy – for the coloring and cs layer- and applying more Night of Navy ink to the Shimmer Paint on the base card front.

I love using the Shimmer Paint to make my own shimmer paper. You can find the Beautiful Baubles bundle and all four types of Shimmer Paint in my Online Store so you can add this awesome effect to your holiday projects!
